Herb Green and Spanish surname

[page 64, line 9]

My next Herbie Green story. He was picking a jury one day, and he came down to this fellow who had a Spanish surname, Mr. Gonzalez. And he started — he was — well, Herbie could speak Spanish. I’ll give him that; he could speak Spanish. So he started out talking to Mr. Gonzalez in Spanish. Well, Mr. Gonzalez got highly incensed, and Mr. Gonzalez said, “Look,  man, I’m a fifth generation American. I don’t speak Spanish, and I don’t like for you to put this on me.” Mr. Green never looked up, just kept on writing. “Adios, Mr. Gonzalez.”
